WORSHIP SCHEDULE  
Bell Choir Practice 8:30 a.m.

POLICY ON CANCELING CHURCH SERVICE: If you wonder if church services have been cancelled due to bad weather, please call the moderator or pastor. We will also try to have a message on the church telephone if possible.      

Events

ANNUAL GARAGE SALE & BAKE SALE: Will be held June 21 from 9:00am-1:00pm. There is always a variety of tasks, some more difficult than others, to be done for any fund raiser & the garage sale/bake sale is no exception. If you don't find your name on the work schedule for the day of the sale, feel free to volunteer. We are limiting the clothing this year as it takes a lot of space &, in the past, has not been a good selling item. This year we encourage you to bring only spring & summer items. It would be helpful if the items were marked for sale, but many are uncomfortable with this task. For this reason, help is needed June 16 - 20 to insure that all is ready for the sale. Help is also needed June 15 to get the tables set up. If you have a card table that could be used, please bring it to the church by the June 15 so it can be incorporated in the arrangement. The bake sale has also been a good fund raiser at the sale so feel free to get involved in this part of the activities too. In previous years, the support to the bake sale has been exceptional so continue the good effort.

Sidewalk Sunday School starts at First Congregational UCC on Tuesday, June 10 at 11:00am. Bring a neighbor, relative or friend to join you in the fun!! There is a snack sigh up sheet on the counter off the kitchen.

Habitat for Humanity: Our church has been approached by Habitat for Humanity to help in the building of the Habitat house to be built on North 9th Street. We are looking for a few volunteers to help some Saturday morning in the next few months. Construction is scheduled to start in the next month. It's been a few years since our church has participated so we would like to help out. If you can help in this very worthwhile project, contact Loring McNeil at 576-6294 for details.

Iowa Conference of the United Church of Christ>A New Day is Dawning is the theme of the 46th Annual Meeting at Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa on June 13-14, 2008. Pastor Jim will attend with Bev Field as our church delegate & Georgiana as friend of the church. 

Frontier Days' Ol' West Worship Service> "Rollin' Along Together In Faith" will be on Saturday, June 7, 2008 at 4:00pm at the Fort Museum Church Yard. Li'l Preachin' n' Singin' n' Sharin'. Music by ACE & Friends. We'll pass the plate to benefit the Salvation Army Transient Fund. Don't forget to wear your jeans & boots & hats. Free lemonade & cookies provided by local churches.

Women's Fellowship News >   Circles

Pilgrim Circle will not meet in June.

Mayflower Circle will not meet in June.

Plymouth Circle will not meet in June.

Women's Fellowship> Will meet Friday, June 6 at 11:30am at Kenyon Place in the Main Dining Room. Cost is $7.00. Reservations by June 4 to Mona (576-6497) or Betty(573-8965).

CHURCH WOMEN UNITED>Will meet Monday, June 9 at 1:30pm. Visitation>Women's Center tour (YWCA). Bring: Items for the Center

Summer Worship Schedule:Summer Hours are 9:30am. Worship begins June 1.

We will celebrate Holy Communion on Sunday, June 1.

Lord's Cupboard Sunday will be observed on June 1. 

HARMONY BRIGADE BARBERSHOP CHORUS>The Harmony Brigade Barbershop Chorus is practicing in our church on Tuesdays evenings at 7:00pm. 

WEIGHT WATCHERS>Weight Watchers continue meeting in our church. They meet on Tuesday, three times on Thursday, & Saturday morning.

Governing Board will meet on Tuesday, June 17 at 7:00pm.

Finance Board will meet Sunday, June 15 following worship.

Heavenly Harmony meets Wednesdays at 5:30pm.

Confirmation Sunday is June 1. Those being Confirmed are Laura VanVacter, Lennox VanVacter & Kyle Daly.


Heather Byrum graduated from Prairie Valley High School in Gowrie. While in high school she ws involved in band, choir, musical, spring play, volleyball, FCCLA, yearbook & speech. Heather volunteered with the Prairie Valley Area Soccer Association as an assistant coach & in the concession stand & at the elementary afterschool program. She also works part time at Payless Shoesource. Heather's interests include art & interior design. She plans to attend Iowa Central Community College in the fall & hopes to get a degree in business & graphic design.

Many dishes & other items from the kitchen have been left in our church kitchen area. If you are missing an item, please check as they will be offered at the church garage sale June 21 if not picked up.
